Year 3 School Trip
Earlier this term, Year 3 enjoyed an exciting trip to the National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon. The children took part in a variety of engaging activities, including learning how to become part of a Roman army, and visiting the amphitheatre, army barracks, Roman Baths and museum. The day was full of fun and hands-on learning, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers for their support throughout the trip.

Alzheimer’s Community Support Session
Early next term we are working with Bristol Dementia Wellbeing service who are a partnership between Alzheimer’s Society and the NHS. They will be running assemblies on both sites and are offering a parent/carers session on 2nd June. See details below
Parent/carer session Upton Site KS2
Tuesday 2nd June 2026 · 9:00am – 10:00am
Dementia Friends is a social action movement aimed at enabling communities to be more dementia-friendly. The Dementia Friends session is an interactive 60-minute session, deepening knowledge and understanding of the condition, considering how dementia may impact on undertaking daily tasks and how this can be supported.
The session will be led by Sally Townsend (Community Development Coordinator for Schools) and supported by Alice Phipps (Dementia Support Worker) from Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service (a partnership between Alzheimer’s Society and NHS).
Further information and support will also be available. This session supports the age-appropriate assemblies that the children will be taking part in.

Summer Fair
Date: Saturday 13 th June
Time: 11:30am – 3:30pm
Place: Ashton Site, Ashton Gate Road
Summer Fair
Saturday 13th June 2026 · 12:30pm – 3:30pm
We’ll have our usual collection of fun stalls and games, food, snacks, music and a fully stocked bar of your favourite Bristol Beer Factory beverages, wine and bubbles! We can’t wait to see you all there and we are keeping everything crossed for sunny weather! (not that a bit of rain will stop our fun!).
Volunteer Reminder
We can’t run these events without you (we really can’t!), so while we want to say a HUGE thanks to everyone that has volunteered so far, we still have lots of slots available we need to fill if we want this event to be as fun as we have planned. Remember that each class has been assigned a stall to run. There are four 1-hour slots per stall starting from 11:15am to be ready for an 11:30am start – the fair will finish at 3:30pm. Each will have two adults running it, so please team up with other parents to cover all the slots. You are also more than welcome to invite partners, grandparents and your kids as helpers.
Stalls will be allocated a few days before the fair.
Cuddly Toys – Rehome a Critter
One of our favourite and popular stalls is back! Our Rehome a Critter is always popular and helps raise those all-important funds for the school, but we can’t do it without your help.
So, if you have any cuddly toys that would love a new home you can donate them and we’ll help them find one! Please drop off at either the Ashton or Upton site office. Huge Thank You.
We can’t sign off without saying thank you as always for your help and support! We know sometimes it can feel like we ask a lot, but it all comes from our mission to do all we can for our amazing school and kids.
Without you we wouldn’t be able to run these events and raise the money we do! We hope you all have a fantastic Half Term, and we can’t wait to see everyone at the Summer Fair.

Attendance at Ashton Gate Primary School
Regular school attendance is one of the best ways to help your child succeed. When children come to school every day, they keep up with their learning, build confidence in their skills, and develop good routines that set them up for the future. Every day at school matters—it helps your child stay on track and get the most out of their education.

It is also important to arrive at school on time. If a child arrives late to school every day, their learning begins to suffer. Below is a graph showing how being late to school every day over a school year adds up to lost learning time over one academic year.

Lunch Ordering
Please remember to order your child’s lunch before 10pm on a Wednesday. If your child only has a meal once a week, you will still need to book this.
We are still having a lot of children who do not have a lunch booked with no packed lunch. Please remember the default meal is always salad bar. No other option will be available.
Please remember not to order a school lunch if your child is on a school trip, where a packed lunch is required. If you have already booked a meal for this date, the meal can be cancelled by the payer until 10pm on a Wednesday for the following week. As all food is pre-ordered there will be no refunds issued for non-cancelled meals.
Nut Free School
A reminder that we are a nut free school. Please do not send your child to school with snacks/packed lunch with items containing nuts. This includes items such as Pesto, filled crepes and chocolate spread.
Social Media
We are now on Facebook. Please like our page, we will be using this page to celebrate events and learning moments taking place across the school. We encourage you to invite other parents and family members to join as well, so that too can be part of our vibrant school network. Rest assured, our Facebook page will prioritise the privacy and security of our children. We will follow all the necessary precautions and guidelines to protect identities and ensure a safe online environment.
Recording Absences
Studybugs is no longer in use. Please record any illnesses/medical appointments using the Arbor parent portal app. For planned absences please complete the online form on the attendance page of our website.
