Year 3 Ancient Roman Day – Thursday 18th June
A reminder that Year 3 we will be holding an Ancient Roman Day at school on Thursday 18th June. Children are invited to come dressed as a Roman if they would like to. Please remember that dressing up is completely optional, and there is no expectation to buy a costume—simple homemade outfits are very welcome.
We look forward to a fun and exciting day of Roman-themed activities!

The PTA Summer Fair is Here!
We want to start off with a GIANT THANK YOU to all our amazing volunteers that have signed up to help us run this year’s event! We had a great last push and filled lots of the slots. Unfortunately, we still have some gaps, especially later in the afternoon, so some stalls may have to close early.
As a reminder this weekend’s Summer Fair will be running between 11:30am – 3pm at the Ashton Site – and the weather is looking great for it! (which makes a change!!)
As well as our usual selection of stalls (including our always popular Face Painting), games and bouncy castle, we’ll have our bar stocked full of our favourite local beers from the Bristol Beer Factory, plus wine, Pimms and soft drinks. We’ll also be selling
hot food, cakes and snacks. PTA Raffle. Don’t forget to buy your tickets for our amazing summer raffle. All the prizes have been donated by our lovely local businesses and include prizes from The Lounge, The Hen and Chicken, Fuchsia Beauty, StorySmith, The Wave and lots more!
You can see more details of the amazing prizes up for grabs and buy your tickets online here:
We can’t wait to see you all on Saturday – it’s an especially big one for those of us that that will be leaving the PTA at the end of this academic year (including our amazing Chair). So please pop along, have some fun in the sun and help us make
this the best one yet.
Oh, and don’t forget every single penny raised goes directly to the school!

The Big Future
Ashton Gate School Street
This week Knowle West Media Centre came into school to work with children and help design what our school street initiative at the Ashton site might look like.

Message from Future Places
There is also a chance for EY & KS1 parents to be involved. Join us on Tuesday 23rd June to imagine what Ashton Gate Rd could look like in future. How can we improve the look, feel and safety of the road outside of the Ashton Site?
Future Places AR is an engagement activity that offers you the chance to imagine the future of your neighbourhood and uses technology to bring it to life.
Using Augmented Reality (like in Pokémon GO) and devices that allow you to see and hear through time, you will get to experience your ‘school street’ as you’d like it to be in future.
As we talk and come up with ideas together, what you imagine will appear around you, drawn over the landscape of today. Using immersive sound, you’ll also get to hear what it might sound like.
This is part of the South Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood Programme.

School Transitions
Attendance at Ashton Gate Primary School
Regular school attendance is one of the best ways to help your child succeed. When children come to school every day, they keep up with their learning, build confidence in their skills, and develop good routines that set them up for the future. Every day at school matters—it helps your child stay on track and get the most out of their education.

It is also important to arrive at school on time. If a child arrives late to school every day, their learning begins to suffer. Below is a graph showing how being late to school every day over a school year adds up to lost learning time over one academic year.

Lunch Ordering
Please remember to order your child’s lunch before 10pm on a Wednesday. If your child only has a meal once a week, you will still need to book this.
We are still having a lot of children who do not have a lunch booked with no packed lunch. Please remember the default meal is always salad bar. No other option will be available.
Please remember not to order a school lunch if your child is on a school trip, where a packed lunch is required. If you have already booked a meal for this date, the meal can be cancelled by the payer until 10pm on a Wednesday for the following week. As all food is pre-ordered there will be no refunds issued for non-cancelled meals.
Nut Free School
A reminder that we are a nut free school. Please do not send your child to school with snacks/packed lunch with items containing nuts. This includes items such as Pesto, filled crepes and chocolate spread.
Social Media
We are now on Facebook. Please like our page, we will be using this page to celebrate events and learning moments taking place across the school. We encourage you to invite other parents and family members to join as well, so that too can be part of our vibrant school network. Rest assured, our Facebook page will prioritise the privacy and security of our children. We will follow all the necessary precautions and guidelines to protect identities and ensure a safe online environment.
Recording Absences
Studybugs is no longer in use. Please record any illnesses/medical appointments using the Arbor parent portal app. For planned absences please complete the online form on the attendance page of our website.
